Indipex 2011 To Display Swedish Treskilling Yellow World’s Most Expensive Stamp

 

The Indipex 2011 will put on display the World’s Most Expensive Stamp “Swedish Treskilling Yellow”.The "Treskilling" Yellow, or 3 skilling banco error of color , is a postage stamp of Sweden received world's record auction sales price for a single postage stamp.

In 1855, Sweden issued its first postage stamps, a set of five depicting the Swedish coat of arms, with denominations ranging from 3 to 24 skillings banco. The 3-skilling banco value was normally printed in a blue-green color, while the 8-skilling was printed in a yellowish orange shade.

Swedish Treskilling Yellow, the world’s most expensive stamp was valued at $2.3 million (around Rs10.5 crore now) in 1966 .On 22 May 2010, the stamp was auctioned once again by David Feldman in Geneva, Switzerland. The 1855 Treskilling Yellow is the only known misprint of a 3 shilling stamp that was supposed to be green.
