Amrita Sher-Gil was a famous woman painter of 20th century India .The Government of India has preserved her works as National Art Treasures and most of them are exhibited in the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi and as philatelic tribute to her, painting 'Hill Women' was released on Postage stamp in 1978 by India Post and a road in Lutyens' Delhi, was named after her, Amrita Shergill Marg.
