Stamp On International Year Of Chemistry From Jersey



 

Jersey Post On March 8th will release a stamp On Marie Curie.The Stamp release will also include collectible philately materials like First Day Cover , Stamp Sheetlets and Presentation pack.

Marie Curie (Depicted on 60p stamp) was born on November 7th 1867 in Poland. She is well known worldwide for discovering radium, which
was for many years the main element in radiotherapy treatment.

Marie Curie was twice awarded the Nobel Prize: for Physics in 1903 and Chemistry in 1911. 100 years on, Marie Curie Cancer Care Organization provides high-quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.

The year 2011 will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize awarded to Madame Marie Curie—an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women to science. The year will also be the 100th anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Chemical Societies, providing a chance to highlight the benefits of international scientific collaboration

The Aim of International Year Of Chemistry 2011 is to increase the public appreciation of chemistry in meeting world needs and to generate interest in chemistry among youth, and to generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry.
