Stamp On Subhadra Joshi

 

India Post On March 23rd Released a Stamp On Subhadra Joshi.The denomination of the stamp is 500p

Subhadra Joshi was born in Baroor, Maharashtra, in 1913, but went to school in Lahore. She was expelled for participating in a Congress demonstration

Subhadra Joshi is remembered as a well known freedom fighter, who went to prison during British rule and worked with Mahatma Gandhi during Partition.Later,Subhadra Joshi  served as a distinguished Parliamentarian, having defeated Atal Behari Vajpayee in a Lok Sabha election in 1962.

Subhadra Joshi always used to dress in white khadi, with a dimunitive frame, Subhadra was a Congress worker throughout. She was married to B.D Joshi, who was, however, with the Communist Party

Subhadra Joshi  was the president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and had dedicated herself for communal harmony and was the force behind the formation of the Qaumi Ekta Trust.Subhadra Joshi was a recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Sadhbhavana Award instituted by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
