Miniature Stamp Sheet Released To Mark Philanippon 2011 Show Japanese Woodblock From 36 Views Of Mount Fuji

As Japan Gears up to host PHILANIPPON 2011,Tuvalu has released a set of stamps to mark its presence in the international Stamp exhibition.

Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is very famous an ukiyo-e series of large, color woodblock prints by the Japanese artist of yesteryears Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). The series of paintings paints Mount Fuji in different seasons and weather conditions from a variety of different places and distances.

Woodblock Prints actually consists of 46 prints created between 1826 and 1833. The first thirty six were part of the original publication because of immense popularity, 10 more were added after the original publication
