Tyagaraja was born on May 04th.1767 in Tiruvarur in Thanjavur District Of Tamilnadu.Today’s Stamp For The Day Features the Stamp of Tyagaraja Released by India Post

Tyagaraja is a legendary Carnatic music composer of all time, who sowed the seeds for in the development of Carnatic  music genre. Tyagaraja saw music as a means to experience the love of god .Tyagaraja’s  sole intention was purely devotional while performing.
Present day music concerts in honor of Tyagaraja  will not be complete without 5 of his compositions called the 'five gems' or Pancharatna Krithis being sung.
Tyagaraja was only 8 years old,when he composed Namo Namo Raghavaya Anisham in Raga Desikathodi. Tyagaraja’s Guru  Sonti Venkataramanayya offered Tyagaraja to sing at his residence in Thanjavur and Tyagaraja sang Endaro Mahaanubhavulu, which is the 5th of the Pancharatna Krithis. Tyagaraja’s teacher was so impressed by Tyagaraja's song that he informed the king of Thanajavur about his unique singing ability. On Hearing this, the king sent an invitation to Tyagaraja to attend the royal court.
