Today is May Day also known as labour day.Today’s stamp for the day takes a look at the stamp released to mark the occasion in 1994.The stamp features the ILO

May Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from efforts due to the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. The celebration of Labour Day has its roots in the 8 hour day movement, which advocated 8 hours for work, 8 hours for recreation, and 8 hours for rest.
ILO ,a 'tripartite' United Nations agency promotes rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues. The ILO was founded in 1919, in the wake of a destructive war, to pursue a vision based on the premise that universal, lasting peace can be established only if it is based on social justice. The ILO became the first specialized agency of the UN in 1946
