| During the year 1948, 5 commemorative stamps were released starting with the stamp marking the First Flight of Air India on 8th June 1948.The stamp features Air India’s Aircraft Malabar Princess, a 40 seater Lockheed L-749 constellation. A set of 4 stamps on Mahatma Gandhi was issued for the 1st Anniversary Of Indian Independence.The issue was supposed to be released for his birthday on 2nd October 1948,but was released to August 15th 1948 because of his assassination on January 30th 1948. |
