Picture Of The Stamp Release Of ICMR The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi is the apex body in India for promoting of biomedical research.ICMR is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. The ICMR was founded in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the sole objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organization and it's activities of the IRFA. ICMR was re-designated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with more functions added. The Funds for the ICMR comes from Government of India through the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare .
